How a broken video led to a bigger idea
A few years ago, the founder of Webwarden was simply trying to buy a new pair of hiking boots from an online store.
He found a promising pairs, priced at 340 €..
There was only one photo and one video of the product. Curious to learn more, he clicked on the video, but it didn’t work. The video was removed from YouTube and the embedded video bluntly stated: “This video is unavailable”.
At that moment, he thought:
“I’m not spending 340 € based on one single photo.”
Later, he wondered:
“Did that company just lose a 340 € sale because of one small technical issue?”
This experience sparked an idea.
He realized there are countless ways a website can unintentionally push customers away: broken links, missing media, security problems, accessibility barriers, and more.
There are also countless different tools to tackle one to maybe a few issues at a time. But there’s no tool that takes care of everything.
From this insight, Webwarden was born! A tool designed to protect, monitor, and improve websites with smart, automated checks. All in one, no need for ten different tools.
After studying the market, he also realized something we’ve all grown accustomed to: almost no other companies have clear prices, instant access or a demo site. Way too often customers are met with the “contact us for prices” or “contact us for a demo” forms.
At Webwarden we want users to see and try what they are buying without forms and phone calls.
P.S. The very same online store he had trouble buying the hiking shoes from is now a Webwarden customer. Talk about making a difference!
