Generate Accessibility Statements Automatically
Accessibility statements are a legal requirement for public websites in the EU. With automatic accessibility statements, this process becomes effortless. This statement is based on Directive (EU) 2016/2102. Their purpose is to inform users about how well a website meets accessibility requirements, which parts are not yet compliant, and what will be done to fix them. Traditionally, creating such a statement has required time, expertise, and a lot of manual work – but not anymore.
With Webwarden, you can also generate an accessibility statement automatically. We made our’s too! Check our statement here!
How does it work?
Webwarden scans your website and automatically detects accessibility-related issues, including:
- Insufficient color contrasts
- Missing alternative texts
- Navigation problems
- Missing captions on YouTube videos
Based on these findings, Webwarden creates a comprehensive accessibility statement that is:
- Up to date: The statement is automatically refreshed whenever your website is re-scanned
- Multilingual: Available in Finnish, English, Swedish and German.
- Accurate and informative: Based on real, detected issues – not just generic promises
Setting the details
In Webwarden’s user interface, you can define key information for the accessibility statement:
- Contact email: Where users can send accessibility feedback
- Feedback form URL: A link to your support or feedback page
- Planned improvements: A short description of any ongoing or planned accessibility-related actions
- Supervisory authority: Such as the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency (Traficom)
Webwarden uses these inputs to build a properly structured and compliant accessibility statement.

How to publish the statement
You can publish the accessibility statement on your website in two ways:
- As a link – Add a direct link to the statement page provided by Webwarden
- Embedded with an iframe – Display the statement directly on your own site
Always current
Every time Webwarden scans your website, the accessibility statement is automatically updated with the latest findings. This ensures that your statement is always accurate, compliant, and up to date – without any manual effort.
